Sergeant Michael Dunne fights in the 10th Battalion, AKA The “Fighting Tenth” with the 1st Canadian Division and participated in all major Canadian battles of the war, and set the record for highest number of individual bravery awards for a single battle.
All in all the film itself was fairly well done, good budget type feel surrounding it. But other than that the film lacked so much more. Passchedaele was one of the best and bloodiest battles in Canadian history, the Canadian troops went into that battle completely out numbered in order to diminish the number of German soldiers for the British. Yet through AMAZINGLY strategical attacks, they came out victorious. What the film lacked was that. They did not show all the good parts of that battle, they did not show all the great attacks the Canadians made in that battle. Instead they showed a love story. And unfortunately, not a very good love story. But do not be fooled. It is still a good movie, but there is just SOO much more they could have done with this film.
