On a arctic circle radio shack, an ancient evil lurks, ready to strike at a psychologist, an army man and their collective forces.
I really tried to stay awake for this one! It really is a chore sometimes to watch these and this was definately no excpetion. I always hope that a movie could be REALLY boring, funny, or sick but when it is an oximoron like Extremely mediocre it really sucks. Sometimes they come back for more is about two army special ops people sent to Antarctica to investigate some bizarre bloodbath at a scientific station. when they arrive at the station Captain Cage and his female comrade, Cailli, discover that only two people are alive on the site. One is lieutenant Sabonsky, an exact look alike of my freshman year roomate, and Dr. Jennifer Wills, a beautiful scinetist and doctor. Without knowing anything about the ending, one can pretty much guess that the red hand pertruding from the snow on the cover will come into play at some point. Leaving that aside, most of the movie is spent trying to figure out who did it. There are obvious hints at the supernatural and clear ripoffs of the movie “The Thing” The lines in this film get pretty jumpy and don’t blend well with the story. Also, the science station is very spacious and resembles a log cabin from Northern Exposure, rather than a place dedicated to Antartic research. Another absurd moment in the movie is when Cage looks out the window and sees a red guy run by who resembles Kenny from South Park. This film has an interesting original idea which was a book unfortunately turned into a movie and two sequels. There is a scary part of the movie where a camera mounted remote control car explores a cave but that quicly stablizes into the continual mediocrity. I wish there was something to really say about the film. It was like a sit com one watches and never remembers again. There were no good lines and the love story was empty. There was one funny part when Dr. wills’ half alive friend screams AHHHHHHHHH and jumps into the room during the most inoportune moment of her conversation with Cage. Basically, the film was reminiscent of Trucks, but it wasn’t funny. Don’t see it, even as a prank for soemone to waste their time.
