A scientific expedition in Mexico discovers several unusual baby octopus specimens. When they capture several of the critters their half-man/half-octopus parent appears to terrorize the hapless scientists.
Make no mistake about this, it was made in 1971, it’s in color, but at heart this is a cheesy 50′s “man in a rubber monster suit” movie. How much you enjoy this (or don’t) entirely depends on how much you like 50′s cheeseball horror movies. The monster is laughable and non-threatening, and of course at some point it carries the girl in its arms (tentacles?) in a attempt to drag her back to its lair, for what purpose though, I guess I’d rather not know. In examing small octopi at the mouth of a river, the scientists proclaim that they look “strange”…yeah, they do, they’re not real. Overall, this is a truly terrible movie, but being a fan of bad movies, if they have some redeeming quality to them, I liked it…the redeeming quality here would be that it’s hilarious, but I doubt that hilarity is what the makers had in mind.
