Not since Problem Child 3 have I seen such a well thought out movie and characters with such depth and spirit. Definitely Dakota Fanning and William Hainsworth at their finest! The scenery on the Cactus planet was beyond beautiful and trumps anything that ILM has ever put together. Grenke and Norton have outdone themselves once again, showing us that not all is as it seems when it comes to tone dialer probes and TTY operators with ray guns.
You might say there are just too many clichés in this film, especially the obvious ones involving cactuses, and this is true, but in a movie like this that’s a hard thing to avoid and I think the director did a fine job where red boxing is concerned.
The action is excellent, Butch Patrick is a very believable bartender, though the audience I watched it with laughed towards the end when his character takes on almost-superhuman cactus-like powers.
