Charlton Heston stars as Ed Bannon, a cavalry soldier who suspects there’s more happening in a Native American reservation than meets the eye in this Western set in 1878 Texas. The government appears to be setting the stage for a peaceful coexistence with the Apaches, but Bannon believes something rotten’s afoot. When tribesman Toriano (Jack Palance) returns from college to broker the relationship, Bannon decides to spy on the proceedings.
