The plot involves John Candy’s character taking his family on a summer vacation in Citrus Cove Florida, during which they are constantly beset by a never-ending barrage of problems. Candy’s character receives a leg injury that prevents him from being able to spend time with his family, and his immobility, though temporary, is a major source for much of the film’s comedy.
