This movie picks up Kronk’s life from where “The Emperor’s New Groove” leaves off. After dumping Yzma, Kronk gains the respect of his (and Pacha’s) community as Head Chef and Delivery Boy of Mudka’s Meat Hut. He happily basks in the glow of his many friendships until he gets a message that “Papi”, his disapproving father, is coming for a visit. Papi wants to see Kronk’s wife, kids and house on the hill – all of which Papi feels are necessary for success.
Kronk then explains (via flashbacks) why Papi erroneously thinks that he has these things:
After being approached by Yzma with a money-making scheme involving a youth potion, Kronk sells the potion to his senior citizen friends who become addicted to it. They ultimately sell their senior citizen home to Kronk to fund their addiction. Kronk writes to Papi telling him about his house on the hill. However, when Kronk realizes that the potion is a fake, he gives the house back to the senior citizens. He neglects to tell Papi about giving it back.
While serving as a Camp Councelor to his Chipmunk Scout Troop, he meets and falls in love with a fellow Councelor, Miss Birdwell. He writes Papi and tells him all about his “Miss Birdie-Poo”. However, when one of the campers puts itching powder in the grip chaulk during a cheerleading competition, Miss Birdwell blames Kronk and dumps him. He never tells Papi about losing her.
Kronk desperately wants a “thumbs up” from Papi, so everyone in the community (including Kuzco and the seniors) tries to help by pretending to be Kronk’s wife and kids during Papi’s visit, but Kronk is so flustered he neglects the kitchen on Fondue Night. The jig is up when the cheese blows up and Kronk finally tells Papi the truth. The townspeople stick up for Kronk when it seems likely that Papi will again shun poor “Kronkers”…
