Fast Download: The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968)

If you only know the old Errol Flynn movie, then you don’t know the Charge of the Light Brigade. Shot on location, this 1968 film by Tony Richardson (of TOM JONES fame) is historically accurate down to the number of men participating in the charge (670, not 600 as in the poem). But it is also part satire, part black comedy, and part (a large part) a reflection on the Vietnam war. Stars Vanessa Redgrave, David Hemmings, Trevor Howard, John Gielgud, and Harry Andrews. It’s not nearly as well known as the Flynn film, but should be.
