The Devils (1971)

In the city of Loudun (South-West of France), a priest seducing women and having controversal ideas drives people crazy/hysteric (nuns are like possessed by evil)
in a plague atmosphere. Richelieu, prime minister of that period, will use this event to feed his political strategy which consists to destroy Loudun and eliminate the
“heretic” priest.
The artistic point of view of Ken Russell could be seen as bizarre as the events that occurred in France in 1634, the director mixing traditionnal and psychedelic images and insisting on white colour (walls of the city, convent).
