Based on Conan Doyle’s ‘His Last Bow’, this third film of the series (made after production moved from Fox to Universal) leaves Victorian England for modern times. During World War II, Holmes is called to investigate a series of mysterious broadcasts which warn of acts of sabotage just before they happen. Not the best of the series what with Holmes’s ridiculous haircut but thoroughly enjoyable once you get the hang of Holmes in the mid-twentieth century.
