A marriage of smuggling silkworm, Herve Joncour, in the 19th century the French had gone to Japan to collect his goods secretly. While he points a beautiful woman in Japan, the concubine of a local tycoon, with whom he becomes obsessed. If you do not speak the same language, they communicate through letters until the intervention of war. Their unrequited love persists however, and Herve s wife Helene begins to suspect.
